I promised I would share another progress report this month, but I wasn’t able to make that happen. For the third month in a row, I spent the entire month focused solely on writing and reviewing documentation. I know, I know—that is literally my job... but game development keeps calling to me... The good news is that everything has been written, and we’ve now entered the final review stage! ## Summary of Work Done - **Content Writing** **User Pages** (task-docs-user): Better late than never, I wrote and published the [Shoestring guides](https://docs.symboltest.net/en/userbook/shoestring/overview/) for deploying and operating Symbol nodes. - **Review** **Developer Pages** (task-docs-dev) [Zero](https://github.com/zero4862) completed the final Symbol tutorials ([Atomic Swaps](https://docs.symboltest.net/en/devbook/transactions/atomic-swap/) and [Cross-Chain Swaps](https://docs.symboltest.net/en/devbook/transactions/cross-chain-swap/)). All tutorials have finished review and are now published, and work has also begun on updating the legacy NEM documentation. Here are a few in-progress screenshots: Image Image [CryptoBeliever](https://github.com/cryptoBeliever) completed the [Symbol OpenAPI](https://docs.symboltest.net/en/devbook/reference/rest/symbol/) specification and migrated it, along with other parts of the codebase, to the main Symbol repository. The specification was also upgraded to a more modern renderer. 🇯🇵 [Daoka](https://x.com/DaokaTrade) handled the Japanese translation of all documentation pages, which was an incredible amount of work. I’m truly grateful. - **DARUMA STUDIO** Between the nonstop reviews, I somehow managed to carve out a single day to work on the game design document. But that was all—I couldn’t find any more time for it this month. - **Management** There’s not much to report here. I used my mornings to review, update, and reprioritize the list of unresolved issues across the documentation as a whole and the OpenAPI specification. - **Site Structure** ⚙️ It had been a while since I last touched the site code, so it turned out to be a good opportunity 😄 I created the foundation for the future NEM documentation site so that Zero can build on top of it. I also integrated [Scalar](https://www.scalar.com/), a new OpenAPI renderer, to replace the aging Swagger UI. Finally, I resolved the remaining documentation warnings and small outstanding issues. With that, the documentation branch is now ready to be merged into the main Symbol repository. - **Learning** 🎓 Normally, this section summarizes the time spent learning new technologies, but this month it feels a little different. Within the Syndicate, there is a lot of knowledge that may not seem directly related to day-to-day work, yet represents a great deal of effort and expertise. So we decided to start a series of internal talks to share that knowledge. We call this initiative *cross-pollination* 🐝. In the first session, I spoke about video compression, the topic of my PhD thesis. A few people told me they genuinely learned something from it, which I think is the best possible outcome. At the same time, I learned something too: talks like this should be shorter. This one took over an hour, and I’m almost certain a few people completely lost consciousness. 😅 Here is the relative time allocation for each task this month: Image ## Documentation Progress This is the current status of all documentation tasks. What I especially want you to notice is the top item, “Symbol Documentation.” The other items are listed as its subtasks. The bars in the chart represent the number of completed subtasks. The ones completed this month are shown in **orange**. Image This month, the last of the planned tutorials was finally completed, and the bar has at last reached 100%. 🎉 Jaguar is currently doing the final check of the documentation, and I am responding to his comments. The remaining work is focused on merging into the main repository and confirming that publication at the final address (where the current documentation is located, https://docs.symbol.dev) works as expected. After that, I will create the user guide as soon as the new wallet becomes available. ## What’s Next - Complete the final review of the Symbol documentation and publish it. - Continue reviewing Zero’s work on the NEM documentation. - Continue carrying out lower-priority documentation maintenance work. - It may be wishful thinking... but will I finally have time next month to start working on “that game”...?
